Liposuction
Even people who are fit and at a normal weight have “trouble spots” that bother them. These pockets of isolated fat have cute nicknames, such as “saddlebags,” “muffin top,” “man boobs,” “love handles,” and “spare tire,” but you may not think the bulges are so cute. The simple and effective solution to this frustrating fat is liposuction. Women and men from Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville, Brantford, Niagara Falls and other Ontario cities come to Dr. Otto Weiglein for results that leave them looking slender, toned, and proportional.
Dr. Weiglein is a master of the art of liposuction, and he can give you the body you deserve. Request a consultation online or call Dr. Weiglein at (905) 634-5573 to schedule your appointment, and you will get straight talk and exclusive information from Dr. Weiglein about what body contouring can do for you.
Improving Your Contours
We are genetically and hormonally predisposed to store fat in certain areas of the body and you might not like the way your genes have influenced your shape. Dr. Weiglein may be able to help you with liposuction if you have good skin tone and are:
A woman at a healthy weight with isolated fat deposits on her hips, thighs, legs or abdomen
A man at a healthy weight with stubborn fat around his midsection, abdomen or chest
A woman or a man with excess fat in the neck, causing the look of a “double chin”
Treatment Areas
Neck
Upper Arms
Upper & Lower Abdomen
Flanks/Bra Rolls
Hips, Hip Rolls, or Love Handles
Upper & Lower Back
Medial & Lateral Thighs
Medial Knees
It is important to understand that liposuction is not a weight loss measure and that you should be fit and at a stable, healthy weight prior to the procedure. Dr. Weiglein often uses liposuction to refine the results of other procedures such as a tummy tuck.
What to Expect
Liposuction involves inserting a small, thin tube into areas of excess fat, breaking up the fat, then suctioning it away. While the procedure is straightforward, it takes experience and skill to sculpt the fat and create smooth, attractive contours.
For patient comfort most liposuction procedures are done using a general anaesthetic. Dr. Weiglein begins the procedure by infusing the area with a tumescent solution, which serves to anesthetize the area and to minimize bleeding. This also helps with the gentle separation and removal of the fat. We use power-assisted liposuction (PAL), which is considered by most authorities to be the “gold standard” in liposuction. The vibrating cannula, inserted through tiny incisions, gently breaks up the fat and causes minimal trauma to surrounding tissues.
Liposuction Recovery
There is some bruising and swelling after liposuction, but compression garments (and in some cases medication) help to minimize discomfort. You will be up and around immediately following your procedure; most people require only a few days off from work or light activities. Within a few weeks, your new body contours will be evident, but it can take up to 3 months for the treated areas to shrink fully. The small incisions usually do not require stitches and fade to nearly invisible over time.
