Blepharoplasty

What is Eyelid Procedure (Blepharoplasty)?

People with droopy eyes, sagging skin near the eyes, under-eye bags, dark circles, etc., benefit from cosmetic procedures like blepharoplasty. The treatment involves making incisions on your upper or lower eyelid to remove the excess skin. The results are returning to the normal shape of eyes that look younger.

Based on what issue the candidate is facing, surgeons determine whether they will benefit from an upper or lower eyelid surgery. Sometimes, both surgeries may be combined if the candidates need extensive treatment.

As the name suggests, the procedure helps correct any issue related to the eyelids. Although a tiny part of the eyes, the lids add beauty to your face. People who find it difficult to open and close their eyes freely often look for cosmetic procedures that can restore the normal shape of their eyes. You can consult for a surgery if:

  • Your eyelids are sagging or drooping.

  • You look aged and tired.

  • You have heavier eyelids.

  • Your eyes look puffy.

  • You have under-eye bags and dark circles.

  • You have clear goals and expectations from the surgery.

Recovery and Aftercare for Eyelid Procedure

After an eyelid procedure, most patients experience mild swelling or bruising and tightness around the eyes. It normally subsides within a few days. Here’s what you can do to reduce such symptoms:

  • Strictly follow the aftercare instructions provided by your surgeon.

  • Keep your head in an upright position.

  • Apply cold compresses.

  • Avoid heavy physical activity unless you are fully recovered.

Recovering from the procedure typically takes approximately 2-6 weeks. After the swelling and bruising normalize, patients can perform light activities like walking. Your surgeon, whom you will meet during appointments, will track your healing process. Once the healing is completed, you can return to your normal schedule.
