Arm Lift
Now that you’ve lost all that weight, parts of your body don’t look the same. Bulky, sagging skin in the upper arm is a common concern, particularly following significant weight loss. It may also simply happen as the result of aging. Dr. Otto Weiglein can help you to have the firmer, more proportional arms that you want through a procedure called brachioplasty, often called an arm lift, in Burlington. People from Hamilton, Oakville, Brantford, and Niagara Falls choose Dr. Weiglein because he does what it takes to make them look and feel great.

Restoring Healthy-looking Arms
Arm reduction procedures can improve the appearance of the upper arm area by removing large quantities of excess skin and fat. It is not a procedure for those with minimal to moderate skin excess.
What to Expect
An incision is made from the elbow to the underarm to remove excess skin and fat. The underlying tissues are repositioned for improved contours, and liposuction is used to further sculpt the area.
Liposuction alone on the upper arm is only useful in younger patients with very good skin and relatively moderate amounts of fat. The skin in this area is very thin and shrinks poorly. Liposuction without surgical removal of excess skin can worsen the appearance of the arm.
Most patients find that 1 or 2 weeks off from work or strenuous activities is enough to be well on their way to recovery. Arm lift surgery leaves a scar extending from the elbow to the underarm, which will start out pink, and is expected to gradually fade to be very faint.
One of the biggest benefits patients experience after this procedure is the freedom to wear short sleeves or sleeveless tops. Many of our arm lift patients have told us they felt limited to long sleeves, even in the heat of summer, before this life-changing procedure.
